STEVEN JESSE BERNSTEIN was the most remarkable poet to ever trod the streets of Seattle. Jesse-as he was known to his friends became notorious as "The Godfather of Grunge,' but his legacy as a poet, playright, actor, and author began in the 1960s, and his most prolific period may have been in the mid-1980s. He was outrageous and often combatative, but always talented and thought-provoking. Although his demise was tragic, his legacy is what matters most.
