The Beakers have been associated with the early Olympia WA music scene, It's true two of the members met while students at The Evergreen State College and their debut single was released on Oly's Mr. Brown Records. But The Beakers home base was Seattle. After breaking into the music scene with their disjointed, angular pop-funk and the aforementioned single the band called it quits. Bassist Frankie Sundsten pursued her dream of becoming a painter, and became successful at it. Gutarist/vocalist Mark H. Smith and drummer George Romansic founded the influential band Three Swimmers. Saxophonist Jim Anderson went on to form various bands, the most notable being Little Bears From Bangkok. In 2004 K Records released a woefully unheard album of live tracks, outtakes and studio recordings under the name "Four Steps Toward a Cultural Revolution." Support the Salish Sea Arts Foundation by purchasing our "official" merch. Proceeds help our work to "preserve, document, and archive Northwest music history that might otherwise be lost."
